I was invited to attend the Summer Camp in Poland for the second year running, this event is one of the most enjoyable that I look forward to, Children and families come together to train and enjoy their vacation.
The venue was in the most beautiful and natural surroundings in a place called Poronin-Zakopane which is situated in the south of Poland a large village with an inhabitants of about 4,000 people, most of the house’s and buildings are made of wood which adds to the beauty, the village is in the foothills of the Tatra Mountains with an altitude ranging from 740 to 800m above sea level.
Although I was not privilege to see some of the wild life that roomed the mountains I was told that Wolfs, Brown Bears, Wild Boar and Deer are apparent, looking out of my hotel window I can see snow on the mountains that is evident from last winter.
As to the weather for the week you could not wish for better, everyday we were blessed with clear blue skies and temperatures in the 30’s, as for the training there were 78 people which were spilt into groups for 5 hours and even the parents joined in the training.
But it was not all about training the group took time to visit the Aqua Park in Poronin which is great for Children, I choose to chill out in one of its many Jacuzzi and then in the Geothermal Swimming Pool while basking in the Sun.
On the last night there was a BBQ held in a traditional wood hut, with music and dancing it ended all too quick.
My special thanks to Sensei Tomasz Siewkowski and his assistants for organising this Gasshuku and taking care of me and all the members for their hard work.
