26th IOGKF European Gasshuku in Boson, Sweden 2009
A very well organised training camp and this was due to the efforts of the chief instructor Sensei Bjorn Jonzon and his team who worked persistently to make this Gasshuku an outstanding success.
Gasshuku means Community, Eating Sleeping and Training together and that is exactly what happened, the venue was the Boson National Sports Complex which is in 32 acres of natural beauty and surrounded by water.
There were about 350 people which for me was a surprise because of the world credit crisis and so it just goes to show the dedication and effort that some people will do just to train with Higaonna Sensei and his senior instructors.
Also there was a guest appearance from Okinawa, Sensei Yamashiro who is a student of Higaonna Sensei's, the training would begin with the traditional warm up with the Master and then the training was spilt into groups so everyone had the opportunity to experience the array of disciplines that were available.
But it was not only about training; I managed to go fishing every day after training which was about 5 minutes from my hotel room and the weather was great the sun was out till 9.00pm the sea was busy with lots of boats going back and forwards to their destinations, but this did not stop me from catching many fish.
As always the last night of the Gasshuku brought the Sayonara party and the entertainment was fantastic a magician and a very attractive belly dancer with music that set the scene.
I would like to thank IOGKF Sweden for a fantastic Gasshuku.
