Mini Gasshuku in Thailand

This was my second visit to Koh Samui a small Island south of Bangkok and home to the IOGKF Thailand representative Sensei Geoff Pickup. A paradise in the sun with wonderful beaches, friendly people and nightlife second to none, with temperatures in the upper 30's.

Training was 4 hours a day for one week, the training covered fitness, endurance and self defence for a small but determined group. I can say that the children's group were very enthusiastic and of a high standard within the IOGKF.

To my delight and surprise, Martin Walsh who trained with me in the Marble Factory and now a successful businessman in Asia also attended the course, it was a delight to see him again after 25 years and to talk about the old days. He is now a Muay Thai practitioner but doing some Okinawan Goju Ryu again made him very happy.

While I was there I was invited to 'Go Fishing', and I must say I had a fantastic day with my good friend Laurence who shares a 'Passion for Angling' with me and to prove it 'There's no need to Lie', I took photos for your pleasure.

As I mentioned in the article from my last visit Geoff has a great set up in Thailand with bungalows for rent and a dojo 'to die for' He has been busy since my last visit and now has a restaurant on site.

The Gasshuku in March 2009 T.B.A will be Friday to Monday to allow for peoples business commitments. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Geoff, Aell and Gila for there hard work and commitment in making this trip a success.

Look forward to seeing you all again in 2009.
