Gasshuku in Israel I was invited to conduct a seminar over 3 days by IOGKF Israel, it was well attended with about 72 members and I was surprised to meet one of the student's that trained with me when I was teaching in Israel 35 years ago. Training started with 3rd Dans, 8-10am at Sensei Leon Pantanowitz' Dojo and in the evening all grades from 6-9pm in Kibbitz Shefayim near Natanya The temperature in August in Israel is in the mid 30s, one day in Jerusalem the temperature reached 51c while I was sitting in my car, one thing is for sure your are guaranteed the sun. Because of the climate most people's appetite consists of pickled vegetables and hommous together withpitta bread.Watermelon and fresh fruit because of their abundance and plenty of water! After the Gasshuku had finished we made our way up to the Sea of Galilee where my friend owns a private beach and we stayed for a few days camping out under the stars, history and the cosmological system had a special treat for us. The Moon and Mars in the same orbit, Mars is moving closer to Earth each morning. The two planets' orbital paths are sending them toward an historical close approach in August, in which Mars will be closer and brighter than ever than in the past 60,000 years or so, checkout the photos. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Norma Pantanowitz and the kambukai for making this a memorable Gasshuku in spirit of Sensei Leon Pantanowitz. George Andrews
