Gasshuku in Iceland

This is the 20th year since my first visit to Reykjavik and they are still training in the same Dojo at the Laugardalslaug Swimming Pool one of the best known in Iceland , with its Outside Pool (50 m long) and 3 other pools which are all heated, 3 hot tubs, steam bath - glide (86 m) - infant glide, sun benches - massage - water massage, just the job after 5 hours of the Goju Ryu curriculum!

There are 2 Dojos which are situated below the Swimming Pool and are fully equipped with everything you need for all types of training, over the wekend the request was for detail in Kata so breaking down each Kata with repetitions seemed to please everyone.

Friday morning I woke to complete silence as I opened the window not to my surprise it had been snowing, I could see across the bay the mountains were covered with snow after a couple of deep breaths while thinking of Sanchin Kata I promptly jumped back in to bed to get warm.

Saturday evening I was invited out for dinner and because Iceland have some of the best fish dishes I choose a dish with a variety of fish which was delicious,

I would like to thank the Icelandic people for their hospitality and friendship.
