Hereford weekend training

I was recently invited to conduct a seminar by Sensei Tony Smith 4th Dan IOGKF in Hereford the home of once famous Pugilist (Bare Knuckle Fighter) Tom Spring and the home of the S.A.S.

I counted about 20-25 participants on the course each day. Training was varied and included partenered variations on san Dan Gi, Ippon Kunite and combination kicking to all 3 areas aiming at vital and weak points. With numerous combination's people were able to choose and practice the combinations which suited them.

On Sunday morning during the warm up I introduced leg defense and attack from a prone position, and then kata would dominate the rest of the class however, it was not all about training. On Saturday afternoon a colleague invited me to go fishing on the river Lugg, sensei Tony accompanied us and while we were fishing he would offer us cups of tea.

After 3 hours of tranquility the silence was broken by a loud thump in the sky just above the trees, a bird of prey took a woodpigeon straight out of the sky; it was like a flash of lighting then disappeared.

That evening we all got together and went to a Thai restaurant for a meal, it was delicious, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sensei Andy Barker of Sheffield for bringing a large contingent from his dojo and all the people that traveled to support me, and of course Sensei Tony Smith for a wonderful weekend.
