Budosai with Sensei Terry Wingrove

After returning from the IOGKF Gasshuku in France and with an invite from Sensei Terry Wingrove and Mr. David Chambers who is an adviser to Higaonna Sensei I was set to assist Higaonna Sensei at the Budosai. Higaonna Sensei was very happy to conduct this seminar at the National Sports Centre for Martial Arts in Bisham Abbey, Marlow, England.

The disciplines that were available included, Jujitsu, Aikido and Traditional Goju Ryu of which Higaonna Sensei and myself were invited to teach. All classes were split into groups I would say about 100 people were in attendance.

With my group I worked in partnership with my long time friend Sensei Tony Christian. I worked on Hojo Undo (Supplementary Training Aids) which included Chishi, Tetsu – Ashi, Nirigi Game. Sensei Tony who is very good in weapons especially the knife, demonstrated and explained the importance of Hojo Undo in weapons training. Then I worked with Higaonna Sensei and he gave an in depth and profound explanation on using Hojo Undo. To finish Sensei Higaonna tested me in Sanchin Kata and explained to the seminar participants about the correct way to perform the Shime (Testing)

Then it was time for lunch, which was held in the hunting lodge of King Henry The Eighth what a magnificent sight on the grounds of the N.S.C Bisham Abbey. After lunch it was time for a question and answer session with Higaonna Sensei. At this point I asked permission to leave to spend time with my family whom I had not seen for a week, Sensei was most understanding and granted me leave to go.

May I take this opportunity to thank all the people that supported this wonderful occasion.
