Arriving in Sweden in pleasant sunshine one could feel
the autumn air, with heavy traffic jams due to an incident, we went straight
to the Dojo in Stockholm. Where Sensei Bjorn Johnson who is chief instructor
of Sweden was our host. Upon entering the Dojo, it was as if we had been
transported back to Japan.
The Dojo is decorated in the traditional style with
a calm and tranquil atmosphere, one could even say just like a Zen Do.
The first training
would see 3rd Dan and up, then it was the turn of all grades, about 80
100 students from all over Sweden.
Saturday evening we were invited by the owner of one
of the oldest restaurants in Stockholm's Gamla Stan (Old Town) - or staden
mellan broarna, the city among the bridges, as it is more
lyrically known to Swedes. It is a regular haunt of the Swedish national
poet Evert Taube, also amongst the regular clientele is the Swedish Nobel
prize committee, a wonderful place with an atmosphere to match.
Here are some photographs (click to enlarge) as requested
by many of our visitors, enjoy them. I would like to take this opportunity
to thank my assistant Linda Marchant and Sensei Bjorn for his hospitality.
