A Visit to the Holy land Flying to Israel via Vienna on a two hour flight then three hours to Ben Gurion airport was quite comfortable. The temperature on reaching Israel was a staggering 40c, one would be wise to carry and consume water even if you are not feeling thirsty however short the journey. A hired car was our means of transportation, as I started the car the temperature gauge read 45c outside however, within 5 minutes the car inside was a comfortable 18c. After a 40 minute drive we reached Jerusalem, where we would stay for the next few days. During our stay we made our way to the Dead Sea see this link for more interesting information. Then it was on to Pardes Hanna, where we would spend most of our time, our final destination would be Tiberius in the North, but due to the war it was suggested not to go. Evident in the sky has I drove along the motorway were 29 combat helicopters their rotor blades sounding out their defiance and determination to reach their destination. We managed to visit some of the beaches along the Mediterranean coast line where life seemed to be normal but the lack of tourists was very evident. 3,970 missiles rained over northern Israel during the conflict, then news of the cease fire was broadcast, this meant that we could go to the Galilee and visit our friends and swim in the Kinneret . To all those human being on both sides, especially the children that died in this conflict, the lord will always be with you. George Andrews
