I.O.W Course January 2005

It seems every time I make the journey to the I.O.W, the sun always shines and boarding the ferry it seems that most people had the same idea, to get away for the day.

After a one and a half hour drive from London we had quite a pleasant crossing, which passed quickly whilst sipping my hot chocolate in contemplation of what the day would bring. I was accompanied by my 'chauffeur' and assistant Linda Marchant, in her new Mercedes CLK 270 coupe.

Arriving at the Dojo, I was greeted by Sensei Mark Elliott, and whilst waiting for training in the first class, I counted 31 children. After one and a half hours of training it was the turn of the seniors, I counted 45 people. The amount of participants grows every year, a grand total of 75karate-ka. The training request from Sensei Mark was Bunkai from Kata, he said you "don't do what I say anyway", and to his delight I covered about 15 Bunkai's, mixed in with a flurry of basic combinations, which were received by an audience of complete deliberation.

Looking around at all the people present, with a mixture of men, women and young people, and their love for training, always gives me an energy boost.

I shall be returning in July for a Bunkai and Supplementary training course, I will keep you posted.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sensei Mark Elliott for the last 16 year of invitations, to teach on the I.O.W.
