Iceland Gasshuku by Sensei George

It is again a shock to me as I make my way through the airport terminal in Reykivik, it seems that the world is getting smaller and the interest to explore is more fashionable.

Having said that, I'm pleased for tourism and commerce, but the romance of traveling to such a once remote and tranquil place has diminished over the years. It's always a pleasure to visit and teach the people, because some have been training with me since they were children some 16 years ago.

We had a wonderful time training but the time seemed to fly. During my stay there I was invited to dinner by the newly appointed chairman of the Icelandic Karate Federation. He took me to a wonderful fish restaurant which was called "The Three Coats" with it's décor that is reminiscent of an old curiosity shop, I have never tasted such delicious fish anywhere else in the world.

All too soon it's time to bid my farewell to the country I hold close to my heart, however, I will be returning in November for a week long Gasshuku, if you would like to attend the training you will be welcome.

My special thanks to Sensei Gretar and all his staff for making this trip very special

George Andrews
