Annual Gasshuku in Germany 2004

Once again with my assistant Linda Marchant it was to Hamburg for what was to be a very successful Gasshuku. Over one hundred students were in attendance over the weekend, which gets bigger every year thanks to the efforts of the Chief Instructor Sensei Peter Lembke.

Also teaching were Sensei Ernie Molyneux and Sensei Sydney Leijenhorst, who did a great job. Participants were split into 4 groups to give each group the chance to train with each of the instructors.

Sensei Linda demonstrated her kicking skills with varied combinations and her ability to execute a kick and hold it at face level without effort. This is only possible through diligent training and her love for Karate - Do.

There were people from Denmark, Holland, England and from all over Germany, it was such a pleasure to see people encouraging each other to try and better their technique.

Saturday evening we were invited to a restaurant, to sample some of the exotic dishes. On offer were curries of meat consisting of Lamb or Chicken and some delicious vegetable curry with tasty rice. Some were hot and spicy whilst others were sweet and cool. To extinguish one's palate, there was a cool glass of Wheat Beer, which is quite popular in Germany.

The restaurant it's self was decorated, I can only describe with love and passion, lights and colourful paintings of the various Deity's within Buddhism, Hinduism and a wonderful picture of the Reverend Rajneesh, with a smile on his face.

After 4 hours of training on Sunday it was time to leave and make our way to the airport. They always seem to be renovating Hamburg Airport, that's because with the revenue they get from selling so many B.M.W's, Mercedes and Audi's in England they can splash out on the airport!

My special thanks to Sensei Peter for his trust in me.
