Training Course in Carlisle May 2004 For the long journey to Carlisle first I booked a train ticket, only to find out that on the way back there would be a 10 hour delay, the reason I'm telling you this is that you don't make the same mistake as I did, always ask because they won't tell you before you buy it! Webmasters note Carlisle is approx 300 miles (482km) from London. So it was to a hired car, which was comfortable but took just as long, mainly because the trains were not running so people were using their cars. On the way there it took 10 hours yet on the way back it took only 5 hours, and that was a bank holiday weekend. Sensei Dan Russell invited me to conduct this seminar at his wonderful Dojo, attached to the dojo is a vegetarian restaurant where we had our lunch during the break in training. Sensei Callum Dick from Scotland accompanied by 17 of his students attended the training. Everyone had a great time, especially the children, on Saturday evening all where invited to sensei Dan's Farm for a B B Q. The children quickly occupied the full size trampoline in Sensei Dan's garden and the quad bike, while the adults stood around chatting waiting for the food to be cooked. On Sunday after the training had finished and everyone had left, we made our way back to Sensei Dan's farm, where there is a fishing lake full of trout. Sensei Dan suggested that I catch some fish for supper. I must say that I have never tasted such fresh fish and with a cool glass of white wine it went down a treat. All weekend the weather was superb, clear skies and a light breeze, Sensei Dan asked me would I like to go flying before returning to London of course I jumped at the chance. Sensei Dan is a qualified pilot of many years and I would like to say a good one at that. I look forward to returning to Carlisle again in October, but this time I'm flying it's much quicker. My thanks to Sensei Dan for a wonderful weekend George Andrews Home | Articles | Archive List |
